Five Kashmiris roughed up in Delhi police begins probe

Multiple complaints were filed from both sides and the residents alleged that the siblings would feed dogs in the vicinity, which attracted more canines and caused a menace, police said.

A group of Kashmiri people was allegedly thrashed by a mob in southeast Delhi's Sunlight Colony, following which police launched a probe, an officer said today.

In the video, the woman can be seen and heard screaming for help however, no one seems to have helped her. According to the family, last night, they were cornered by around 40 people.

"It was a planned attack and the accused were carrying hockey sticks", added the victim.

The police, on Friday, had registered a case under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (Sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt.), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), 509 (Word, gesture or act meant to insult the modesty of a woman), and 34 (Common intention) of the IPC after the Kashmiri family alleged that they were targeted by almost 40 people due to their identity and called "terrorists".

The complainant has alleged that they were targeted due to their Kashmiri origin.

The attackers also rai-sed slogans like "Kash-miri terrorists go back".

"They beat one of our women up and abused us".

He said that they had been attacked a couple of times earlier also and had been living in fear in the locality. An FIR under appropriate sections of the law has been registered on the complaint, they police said. There were complaints earlier too. The MHA has been informed that the reason of assault was local, which was triggered by a dispute over feeding stray dogs.

The woman alleged "constant harassment" and mentioned that the victims have requested police protection.

Sources said Delhi Police have arrested three residents and a guard on the basis of CCTV footage but their identities have not been revealed yet.
