‘Fallout 76’ Teased Ahead of E3

One of 17 such control vaults, it was supposed to open 20 years after a nuclear war. This new Fallout game will be called Fallout 76 and its teaser trailer showcases visuals similar to Fallout 4. We also see our first glimpse of what could be Fallout 76's main character at the end of the trailer, equipping a Pip-Boy 2000 and donning a Vault 76 jumpsuit.

Bethesda has announced a brand-new Fallout and... not really explained what it is, outside of rumours of an online-only game.

Is there any Fallout 76 gameplay? That might be because I have only dabbled ever so slightly in the Fallout games. Is it indeed an online multiplayer "Rust clone", set in Vault 76 alongside an interstate highway, built around Fallout 4's settlement building feature?

What was Vault 76 and why was it special?

Kotaku's Jason Schreier who appears to have inside information stated that everyone who expects Fallout: 76 to be a new traditional single-player RPG will be very disappointed.

The Vault-Tec terminal in the Citadel lists Vault 76 as a "control" vault, with 500 occupants. However, others think the announcement might concern a New Vegas-style sequel to Fallout 4.

The vault is known as a control vault and was created to be automatically opened after 20 years to compare the results with the other vaults in the area. The 2102 date seen in the game is five years after that, so either their Reclamation Day is delayed for some reason, or something else is going on. I can tell you this, though, Todd Howard will make an outlandishly silly statement that will be proven false once the game releases.
