They made the playoffs - remember? - and playoff teams aren't in the lottery.

Hoping to cash in on some decades-old luck and nostalgia, Orlando Magic co-founder Pat Williams will have a blast from the past in his possession as he keeps a talking Lil' Penny doll with him during the National Basketball Association draft lottery Tuesday night.

"I'll keep that very, very, very close". It's our version of a lucky Penny.

The Cavaliers will find out Tuesday where they will pick in this year's NBA Draft with that selection from the Brooklyn Nets.

The lottery, however, will be held on Tuesday, May 15, in Chicago for the first time in history. The team with the highest lottery odds is guaranteed at top four pick and the team with the lowest odds will end up with the 14th pick unless it gets one of the top three picks.

The top players in this year's draft class are commonly thought to be Arizona big man Deandre Ayton, Real Madrid guard Luka Doncic or bigs Marvin Bagley III of Duke, Mohamed Bamba of Texas and Jaren Jackson Jr. of Michigan State.

They Celtics have successfully built teams in every way possible, but every single top core has always involved at least one top player being draft, and leading the team in a special way. The Magic drafted O'Neal with the No. 1 pick won in the 1992 lottery and traded for Hardaway using the No. 1 pick won in the 1993 lottery. So far, only Oladipo has developed into an All-Star, but Oladipo reached All-Star status as a member of the Indiana Pacers.

Williams will sit in the room where the pingpong balls are drawn.
