Iran's Houthis Fire More Missiles at Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia often claims that it intercepts incoming Yemeni missiles, but a close study of evidence by The New York Times previous year clearly suggested that in one of the most high-profile of such Yemeni missile attacks, the projectile, launched deep into Saudi territory, had in fact landed unimpeded, bypassing American-made Patriot missiles and potentially other defenses used by Riyadh.

In an interview with Tasnim, ranking commander of Yemen's Army General Yahya al-Houthi said if Saudi Arabia continues to kill people of Yemen, Saudi vessels and sites at the Bab el-Mandeb Strait will become military targets of Yemen's missiles.

Reuters cited witnesses as confirming the sounds, which came a day after US President Donald Trump pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal, in part due to concerns the pact did not address Tehran's ballistic missile programme or its role in conflicts in Yemen and Syria.

"There will be more salvos until this enemy is deterred, understands the meaning of the Yemeni threat and ceases its crimes", Rashed said.

Saudi Arabia has previously responded to missile attacks with airstrikes. The Houthi insurgents announced they had fired two ballistic missiles at Riyadh and a third at the southern city of Jizan near the border, on Wednesday alone.

He later said in a separate statement that the Houthis had "failed to launch a short-range Badr-type rocket" towards the Saudi province of Najran but it fell in a non populated desert area.

No information on casualties was immediately available, Press TV reported. It also fired missiles in Riyadh's Dry Port and other "economic targets" in the city.

The rebels are fighting forces loyal to an internationally recognised government, which since March 2015 has been bolstered by a military coalition led by Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, Colonel Turki al-Malki, spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, said that Saudi air defences had intercepted one missile, with another falling in an uninhabited desert outside of the capital.

In a statement, Saudi Arabia said: "The Iranian regime has exploited the benefits of the nuclear agreement to export violence and terrorism to its neighbours".
