Nokia X6 launch today, teaser highlights iPhone X display style

HMD Global, says that it is committed to the China market, and has further announced that they will setup a global mobile center at Shenzhen in China, which will focus on research. Later, the company also confirmed the launch date as May 16th. The image clearly matches design of the Nokia X listing on the TENAA telecommunications certification site. The smartphone is the first from Nokia series to feature iPhone X-like notched display design. HMD Global has not issued any official statement about the rumors about the more X-series devices.

In terms of rumoured specifications, the device will feature a 5.8-inch display with a 1080 x 2280 pixel resolution and an aspect ratio of 19:9. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. The onboard storage will be expandable via microSD card.

The X6 is the first Nokia phone to sport a notch display and may be an indication of what to expect from future Nokia devices.

The Nokia X6 comes in Blue, Black and Silver colors. Dimensions of the handset were listed on TENAA at 147.2x70.98x7.99mm, with a weight of 151 grams. HMD Global, just as it calls the new Nokia 6 - the Nokia 6.1, will call the new Nokia 3 - the Nokia 3.1. It comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the top.

For photography, the Nokia X6 comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup with a combination of a 16MP RGB camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1.0um pixel size, dual-tone LED flash and a 5MP Monochrome camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1.2um pixel size.

Further, the smartphone also comes with a Face Unlock feature as well as a fingerprint sensor placed on the back panel. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v5, GPS/ A-GPS and USB Type-C. The device will go on sale starting May 21st in China. The premium 6GB variant with 64GB of inbuilt storage comes with a price tag of CYN 1,699 (Rs 18,100 approximately). Stay tuned for more tech news and updates.
