Diesel price in Chennai: Like Mumbai, similar hike was also made in Chennai.

The price of petrol reached an all-time high of Rs 79.45 a litre while that of diesel rose to Rs 72.27 litre.

The previous highs in these cities were Rs 78.03 (Kolkata, August 2014), Rs 83.62 (Mumbai, September 2013) and Rs 79.55 (Chennai, September 2013) respectively.

G Vinay Kumar, General Secretary of Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association said petrol and diesel prices would keep increasing by 20-30 paise every day until both the Centre and State reduce the taxes.

Similarly, petrol prices are at Rs 77.79 per litre in Kolkata and Rs 77.93 per litre in Chennai.

The petrol prices are Rs77.79 in Kolkata, Rs82.94 in Mumbai and Rs77.93 in Chennai, respectively. Indian Oil Corp (IOC) Chairman Sanjiv Singh last week said that the state-owned firms were "temporarily moderating" prices to avoid sharp spikes and panic among consumers.

Oil marketing companies were under pressure to pass on the impact of an increase in crude oil process due to their mounting losses. With the U.S. reimposing sanctions on Iran, global oil prices are unlikely to come down any time soon.

The Congress leader P Chidambaram tweeted on Monday that the recent "interval" has coincided with Karnataka elections.

May 16, 2018-Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has jacked up the prices of petroleum products on Wednesday.

According to Anoop Bhatia, VP & Sector Head (Corporate Ratings) at rating agency ICRA said "It would take at least around two weeks of modest price hike by the OMCs for aligning retail fuel prices with the global level, even if crude oil prices do not increase from the current level".
