'She just crossed the line.' Readers react to Roseanne Barr’s racist tweet

And then the network lowered the boom: "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have chose to cancel her show", said ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey. "Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the terrible statements made and said about me on ABC", Trump tweeted.

Williams also called out Barr's attempt to defend herself by tweeting, "It was 2 in the morning and I was Ambien tweeting - it was Memorial Day".

On Tuesday, the chairman of the network's parent company, Disney, said the cancellation "was the right thing" to do, and Barr was dropped by ICM Partners, the talent agency that represented her. Clinton responded to Barr, saying she is in no way related to the Soros family (she is married to Marc Mezvinsky), but when Barr apologized for the mistake she called Soros "a nazi".

Roseanne Barr is blaming her controversial tweet about Valerie Jarrett on a sleeping pill. In the tweet, the 65-year-old television star equated Jarrett to be a by-product of Planet of the Apes and a Muslim group. "You throw me under the bus. nice!"

After her response to Fishman, Barr had a significantly more tame response to Gilbert, who was among the first to come out against the now-infamous Jarrett tweet. Barr said it was the result of "ambien tweeting", a reference to the common sleep aid medication.

Roseanne responded to statements like those by writing, "I'm exhausted of being attacked & belittled more than other comedians who have said worse".

"She has all made all the hundreds of people that work on the show unemployed", Williams said of Barr. "It just shocked me a bit", she wrote.

Barr seemed to liken the reaction from her co-stars and those a supporter called "her underlings" to the way Trump complains about members of his administration being "disloyal".

Starting tomorrow, syndicated episodes of the recently revived sitcom - which was axed by ABC earlier today after racist tweets from star/co-creator Roseanne Barr ignited a social media firestorm - will no longer run in rotation across the channels.
