"Liverpool have been fantastic because they actually came to me and said that Rangers would like the opportunity to speak to me". They certainly didn't show it in those two Celtic games recently. I did enjoy it at Forest, I just don't know if I've got a future down there.

Gary McAllister has indicated that a whole host of players have been put his way as potential Rangers signings, with the incoming Gers assistant manager believing the Scottish giants are an attractive prospect.

Working with numerous promising young players in the Liverpool academy, Gerrard made it clear that he has "had a magnificent time at the Academy".

"We go up to Glasgow and we will give it our best".

"He just went home and the next time he was back for training the first thing he did was congratulate all the players for getting three points".

A final day visit to Leith and Easter Road is of course nothing new for the Ibrox men - one thinks of "Helicopter Sunday" of 2005 vintage - but whilst the stakes are not quite as high as they were on that unforgettable day Jimmy Nicholl will be looking for a similar turnaround in fortune.

A welcome party would seem a little much for a new manager, but Rangers' 5-5 draw against Hibernian might as well have been a tribute to incoming boss Steven Gerrard.

That sort of dramatic game will suit Gerrard very nicely, after a playing career which included more than its fair share of absorbing games.

And, as Celtic celebrated lifting their seventh Premiership title in a row, Gerrard issued a warning to Brendan Rodgers that life is about to get tougher for them. Players probably haven't produced what they're capable of consistently.
