Trevor Noah & Samantha Bee Parody Ambien Ads After Roseanne Barr Tweet

Barr was resoundingly condemned Tuesday, including from many who helped make her show successful.

The actress tweeted that Jarrett looked like "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby", but later claimed that she didn't know Jarrett was black. "I don't read it". "Ya know, if you're suddenly looking for a show like that..." "Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste". She later apologized for the "stupid tweet" but it was too late. Though Barr quickly apologized for a joke that "was in bad taste", ABC released a terse statement from entertainment president Channing Dungey, which said: "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have made a decision to cancel her show". These included comments made by ABC's "The View" host Joy Behar about Christians and comedian Kathy Griffin's comments on the same television program as well as Disney-owned ESPN's former host Jemele Hill and ESPN's recent hiring of television personality Keith Olbermann.

"ABC went overboard", one fan wrote. "And I am going to tell you the truth, she wanted it to happen, if you saw how her tweets escalated this weekend. I made a mistake I wish I hadn't but...don't defend it, please. ty [thank you]".

Trump, who often complains of critical media coverage, did not mention the tweet by Roseanne Barr on Tuesday that compared black Obama administration adviser Valerie Jarrett to an ape. Several networks said they were removing reruns of her show. Another performer, Michael Fishman, as well as showrunner Bruce Helford, offered similar remarks.

Bob Iger, who runs Disney, reportedly called former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett this week to apologize for a tweet sent out by former ABC star Roseanne Barr.

Trump on Wednesday night tweeted that Iger never apologized to him for "the disgusting statements made and said about me on ABC". "I wasn't gonna get an Emmy anyway", he said when asked if he thought the Barr controversy would cost him the award.

What did the White House say?

"I'm so sick over this-they will never have better character actors on their network". Lou Grant was taken off the air within weeks.

But, after her history of making controversial and bigoted statements, ABC and her co-stars are not the only ones abandoning ship once and for all. WKRP in Cincinnati was canceled the same day as Asner's program.

Both Variety and Entertainment Weekly note the biggest roadblock standing in the way of a variation of "Roseanne" is the fact Barr has a major financial stake in the series. ABC confirmed that Ross is back at work following his suspension.

Since Caputo isn't a Trump campaign aide anymore, he has been alternating his time between TV interviews and his job as the chief marketing officer of Bond, a conservative-leaning startup company for online streaming.

Barr was also dropped by her talent agency, ICM Partners, shortly after ABC's announcement. She remains a loose cannon even as she sinks into the right-wing swamp. No one is defending her comments. Perhaps it was economic opportunism, perhaps there was a fantasy of an alliance with "white populist anger". It was in your hands from the beginning to the end.
