After Backlash Against Priyanka Chopra's Controversial Quantico Episode ABC Apologises

Calling herself a "proud Indian", Chopra said she is "extremely saddened" and that hurting sentiments of people was never her intention. "It was certainly not our intention to offend anyone", ABC said in a statement on Friday. "I sincerely apologise. I'm a proud Indian and that will never change", Priyanka tweeted on Sunday.

Actress Priyanka Chopra apologized today to those offended by a recent episode of her series Quantico that featured a terror plot involving Indian nationalists.

Now in its third and final season, "Quantico" faced a firestorm of criticism after the episode aired June 1, particularly from viewers outraged by the involvement of Priyanka Chopra, a former Bollywood actress who appeared in several acclaimed movies released in India prior to staring in the ABC series beginning in 2015.

According to reports, the episode titled "The Blood of Romeo", aired on June 1.

Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra and her American TV series Quatico have been making headlines for all the right reasons ever since it first aired in 2015.

ABC has apologized for a recent episode of drama series "Quantico" that generated controversy on social media. Chopra's character thwarts the plot after noticing a Hindu symbol - the rudraksha - on a chain worn by one of the terrorists. However, the ABC's apology has prompted some Muslim writers to ask the famous United States studios to extend similar apologies to Muslims for their negative portrayals in their TV series in the past. "Shame on her!" the group under the handle @HinduAmericans posted on Twitter.

But recently she was criticized by Hindu hardliners for visiting Rohingya Muslims and ignoring persecuted Hindus during her visit to Bangladesh as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

Produced by ABC Studios and now in its third season, "Quantico" was canceled in May.
