Arbaaz Khan has been directed to appear before the police for a joint investigation on Saturday

Actor-director Arbaaz Khan, brother of Salman Khan, has been summoned today by Thane Police in relation to an IPL betting scam, reports said.

The police had recently busted a betting ring and had arrested 42-year-old Jalan, who allegedly operated in the country as well as overseas.

The actor was asked to appear before the police after a bookie, Sonu Jalan, was arrested by the Thane anti-extortion cell from Kalyan on charges of betting, on Tuesday. The culprit is well known to be doing his betting in the country as well as overseas.

The names of a Bollywood celebrity, contractors and builders figured in the diary, police said.

Jalan is allegedly linked with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Sources close to the channel claim that Arbaaz was being threatened by Jalan for an unpaid amount of Rs 2.8 crore.

"We have got the list of bookies and are verifying it with Jalan". Moreover, Police further noted that they have commenced their investigation into the process. Arbaaz was summoned for alleged placements of money on matches during IPL through bookies. Jalan, who was arrested for the first time in 2008 for betting during IPL, has also been pictured on various occasions with Arbaaz.

"Jalan had arranged a match-fixing meeting in Dubai", Sharma said.

Just a few days ago, the on-going Indian Premiere League came to an end after Chennai Super Kings lifted the trophy for the third time post defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
