While Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner are not drawing a salary at the White House, the family business connections have allowed them to remain millionaires.

Jared Kushner's filings reveal a sprawling real estate empire, with property in states including New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Illinois, Ohio and CT generating millions in rent.

Trump reportedly made almost $6 million from Trump businesses like the Trump International Hotel in D.C. and in severance from the Trump Organization. The Post estimated Kushner's assets at 179 million dollars to 735 million dollars past year, compared to between 55.3 million dollars and 75.6 million dollars for Trump, noting that the Office of Government Ethics uses broad ranges for assets and liabilities.

Senior adviser and daughter Ivanka Trump (L), and senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner (R) attend a summit at the East Room of the White House May 18, 2018 in Washington, DC.

Trump and Kushner aren't the only White House staffers raking in the millions, however. The hotel has been a focus of lawsuits against the president and ethics watchdogs, who say Trump is violating the Constitution by profiting from his office, as diplomats spend big money there.

Ms Trump also reported $2m in earnings from the Trump Organisation and a $289,000 advance for her book, Women Who Work.

Kushner reported at least $27 million and as much as $135 million in outstanding liabilities.

Kushner and his wife took at least $83 million in income and capital gains previous year, according to the disclosures.

The couple's disclosures include a number of debts; because each line of credit is only described as a broad spread, their total unpaid debt ranges between $27 million and $135 million. The latest disclosure shows it was worth at least $25 million at the end of past year, up from a minimum value of $5 million in his previous disclosure.

Peter Mirijanian, a spokesperson for the couple's attorney Abbe Lowell, told the Washington Post that Kushner and Trump's net worth has not substantially changed during their time at the White House and confirmed that they have both complied with all the ethical rules. "As to the current filing which OGE also reviews, their net worth remains largely the same, with changes reflecting more the way the form requires disclosure than any substantial difference in assets or liabilities".
