Eunice Gayson, famous for being the first "Bond girl" in the 007 franchise, just passed away according to Hollywood executives who worked on the film series.

"Our honest thoughts are with her family". She also played the same Bond girl in the 1963 Bond film From Russia With Love.

"We are very sad to learn that our dear Eunice passed away on June 8th", they wote.

Gayson had originally been cast as Miss Moneypenny before the producers chose to replace her with Lois Maxwell and recast Gayson as a femme fatale character.

We send our thoughts and condolences to Eunice's loved ones during this hard time.

"The British film industry was in the doldrums and Sean and James Bond pulled it up by its shoestrings".

She introduces herself as "Trench, Sylvia Trench", allowing 007 to respond in the same cadence - with the greeting going on to become his trademark.

"I admire your courage, Miss, er ...?", Connery says in the film to Gayson. "Sylvia Trench. I admire your luck Mr...?"

"Bond, James Bond", Connery replies.

Gayson said in 2012 that filming the scene had not been easy as Sean Connery struggled with the line. "The day took off from that moment - he was so relaxed".

She reappeared as Trench the following year in From Russia With Love.

Like other Bond girls in the 60s and 70s, however, Gayson's voice was never heard in the movies.

Gayson was initially cast as Miss Moneypenny, but that role went to Lois Maxwell.

She also starred in "The Revenge of Frankenstein" and popular British TV shows like "The Avengers" and "The Saint".
