Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hit back at Yaya Toure after the Ivory Coast midfielder accused him of "having problems with Africans", insisting it is a lie.

Toure made the sensational accusations in a recent interview with France Football after leaving Manchester City last season.

Speaking earlier this week, Toure, who was released by City at the end of the season after spending eight years with the Premier League champions, lashed out at his ex-coach, saying that he wanted to "destroy the Guardiola myth". I don't know why but I have the impression that he was jealous, he took me for a rival.

"He was cruel with me". "Do you really think Barcelona could have done that with Iniesta?"

"It got to the point I asked myself if it was because of my colour".

"It is a lie, and he knows it", Pep stated.

When the subject was brought up, Guardiola was reserved in his assessment, telling This Is Premier League: "I would say we made the best year in the Premier League ever". Maybe it's the case that we Africans aren't always treated by certain people in the same way that they treat others.

"He [Guardiola] insists he has no problems with black players, because he is too intelligent to be caught out, ' Toure claimed last week", Toure claimed. He'll never admit it (not liking Africans). (He had) 365 and 365 (days) to tell me (his feelings).

'But the day he will line up a team in which we find five Africans, not naturalised, I promise I will send him a cake'.
