The reigning champions lost 1-0 to Mexico in their opening match, and have not lost back-to-back matches in the same World Cup finals since 1958 - when they lost to Sweden in the semi-final and France in the third-place match.

In the late Group F match, Sweden took the lead in the 32nd minute after Real Madrid star Kroos gave the ball away cheaply and the Swedish counter was well finished by Ola Toivonen, who lobbed keeper Manuel Neuer.

But Kroos also thought he made up for it in the end.

Low's decision to leave Manchester City forward Leroy Sane out of the squad will be under the spotlight once more as the attacking line were repeatedly frustrated by Sweden's defence, seemingly incapable of finding a creative spark throughout the first half.

Germany's midfielder Mesut Ozil wrote on his Twitter account after the match "What! A!" Overall, Germany also completed 86 percent of their 744 passes, with Kroos completing 117 of his 128 - the second-most completed by a player in Russian Federation this month.

"Our players played a game they will not regret, they played as one and did their utmost", said South Korea coach Shin Tae Yong. "Anyway, I accepted my fault".

No, Germany didn't make it easy. Still, despite scoring eight goals in their first two games, the Red Devils likely need to beat a stronger opponent before being considered a favorite.

From there the Germans launched the attack that led to substitute Jimmy Durmaz tripping Timo Werner and conceding the free kick that set up the chance for Kroos to curl in the victor. "The last couple of minutes were full of drama but those matches exist in football". Don't expect these kind of numbers in tomorrow's match.

To achieve that result again, Shin believes his players must acquire more experience.

"Something that I did appreciate was that we didn't lose our nerve, we didn't panic after going down". "We kept a level head".

Man of the Match: Hernandez, whose second-half goal ultimately was the difference-maker.

Up Next: Both teams return to the pitch Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET for their final Group F matches.

Son Heung-min scored a consolation goal for South Korea in injury time, sending a powerful shot past goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.
