The world is just learning the shocking news of Anthony Bourdain's passing.

Anthony Bourdain, who died of an apparent suicide at the age of 61 on Friday, June 8, rose to fame as a celebrated chef, author, and television personality.

USA celebrity chef and television host Anthony Bourdain has died at the age of 61, CNN confirmed on Friday.

For one episode of his popular CNN series "Parts Unknown", Anthony Bourdain traveled to western MA to interview Dr. Ruth Potee about what she refers to now as the "epidemic of hopelessness and despair" around opioids.

"His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller", the statement continued. "We'll miss him", Obama wrote on Twitter, accompanying the photo, taken by his White House photographer Pete Souza. "Out of respect for the family at this hard time we have no further comment". The eleventh season of his show Parts Unknown debuted on CNN last month. He left behind an 11-year-old daughter, Ariane, from his second marriage. Reports say that his friend and French chef Eric Ripert found him unresponsive in his hotel room.

Souza also honored Bourdain on Friday, remembering the "energy being in his presence."

Matt starred in an episode of Anthony's docu-series No Reservations, which saw the pair explore the city's famous food culture, and enjoy a game of Aussie ball game trugo.

Argento said she was "beyond devastated" by his death and asked for privacy both for herself and his family.

But for Bourdain, the food may have redeemed the trip. In a time where the very fabric of our world feels like it is fraying, we need more people like Bourdain, people who show us that we're all far more alike than we are different and that sometimes all you need to understand someone better is to sit down and share a meal.

"His brilliant, fearless spirit touched and inspired so many, and his generosity knew no bounds", Argento said on Twitter.

"He was a great man and I cherished the opportunity meeting him", Najmi said. "And this was, you know, half the town, maybe, but everybody here knows each other, and there is that sense of community that I am much more familiar with in foreign countries", Bourdain said of the community in Milo.

Widely loved and rarely afraid to speak his mind, he mixed a coarseness and whimsical sense of adventurousness, true to the rock "n" roll music he loved.

Bourdain's death was the second suicide this week of a high-profile American figure. The manner of death has been classified as a suicide.
