W. Bank Palestinians hurt in clashes with Israel troops

"It’s not dialogue if one side has access to policymakers and corporate media and the other side gets punished merely for asserting its existence

Israeli troops shot dead a 21 year-old Palestinian stone-thrower during an arrest raid in the West Bank Wednesday after a soldier was hit in the head with a rock, the Israeli military and Palestinian Health Ministry said.

An IDF spokesman confirmed on Twitter that they did indeed shoot a Palestinian man, who was confronting soldiers with 10 others, while they were conducting an arrest in the village northwest of Ramallah.

It was not immediately clear whether Tamimi died at the scene or after the soldiers took him away in an armoured vehicle.

"The soldier responded by firing at the Palestinian, who was wounded and given medical treatment at the scene..."

Nabi Saleh is located across the road from the Halamish settlement in the Binyamin region of the West Bank. "The incident will be investigated".

Nabi Saleh has always been in the spotlight for its demonstrations against Israeli policies in the occupied Palestinian territory, and as a result has been under heightened pressure by Israeli forces, who regularly carry out raids in the area.

British Prime Minister Theresa May also expressed concern "about the loss of Palestinian lives" in Gaza in her meeting with Netanyahu earlier Wednesday.

Since late March, the Israeli forces killed at least 120 Palestinians and wounded thousands during protests calling for the Palestinian refugees' right of return and ending the Israeli blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip since Islamic Hamas movement seized control of the enclave in 2007.

The Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories have remained tense since last December, when U.S. President Donald Trump announced his decision to relocate the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. "Despite this, the suspect is dead", it said in a tweet, adding that an investigation was ongoing. Israel says it has a right to defend itself from violent rioters, who want to cross the border fence.
