A Tennessee grandmother was caught allegedly transporting her grandchildren in dog kennels in the trunk of her auto is now in the dog house. According to Memphis police, Leimome Cheeks, 62, said there was no room inside her vehicle, so she told the seven and eight-year-olds to get inside the kennels.

With temperatures reaching the 95-degree mark, the 7 and 8-year-old told officers they were hot since there were no vents in the back of the vehicle. There was no air conditioning in the back of the auto, while temperatures in the area reached about 95 degrees.

During an interview with investigators, the two kids say Cheeks, their grandmother, told them to get in the kennels because there was not enough room in her vehicle.

Cheeks admitted that she drove the children in the kennels from Whitehaven to Collierville, which is a 35-minute ride.

A young girl can be seen crawling out of a kennel from the back of the Ford Explorer, which appears to be parked in front of the Graceland mansion in Whitehaven, Commerical Appeal reports. She seems like a nice lady. WATN said it attempted to contact Cheeks at her home over the weekend, but no one answered the door. I couldn't see her actually doing that. I only met her like once maybe twice.

She also drove to downtown Memphis, telling police she made stops to check on them periodically. The concerned citizen who shot the video says that he recorded the video for evidence in case police didn't show up in time.

Children's Services and Memphis Police are investigating.
