Friday's semifinals match between Kevin Anderson and John Isner on the men's singles side of Wimbledon was an an incredible, epic and frustrating back-and-forth affair.

It marks a first grand slam final for Anderson.

Anderson broke through for a 5-3 lead in the third set, ending Isner´s run of serving invincibility at this year´s Wimbledon at 110 games.

Anderson was the 10th most popular surname in WA, according to a 2012 survey.

He then converted his first match point when Isner sent a shot wide.

With fellow semi-finalists Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic waiting in the wings, Isner and Anderson made the most of their first appearance on Centre Court in these championships - staying on court for six hours. That match spanned 11 hours and five minutes, with Isner eventually triumphing 70-68 in an astounding final set.

The South African defeated John Isner in a five-set monster match.

In a final set that lasted almost 3 hours, Anderson had break points at 7-7, 10-10 and 17-17 before finally earning the decisive breakthrough to go 25-24 up - drawing a massive roar from the crowd.

At Wimbledon, there are no fifth-set tiebreaks, a rule with which Isner is extremely familiar, so one of the players was going to have to break the other's serve at least once in order to reach the final. After the break, Anderson closed out the match on his serve 26-24, after more than six and a half hours. Isner in particularly started to appear worn out at the set wore on.

Melichar and Peschke will play the victor of the second semifinal between No. 3 seeds Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic and the unseeded pair of Alicja Rosolska of Poland and Abigail Spears of the U.S.

He didn't get nervous and Roger was just a little off with the forehand and that was enough for Anderson to sneak through.' Federer will now enjoy a few relaxing weeks with family and friends, will comeback during the North American hard-court season, in Toronto or Cincinnati.

And another all-time great awaits him on Sunday in either Nadal or Djokovic.
