Black Boy Mowing Grass Gets More Business After Neighbors Call Cops

Police called on 12-year-old mowing grass – which only gets him more business

Reggie, who mows lawns with his siblings and cousins, told WEWS News 5: "They said I was cutting their grass".

Fields and his brothers, sisters and cousins have been running their own business called "Mr. Reggie's Lawn Cutting Service" and in the process of mowing the lawn of Lucille Holt. " In the video, a police vehicle can be seen in the background after a neighbor called to complain that Reggie had cut the grass on his side of the property line".

"If they would have been four white children, the police would not have been called", Holt-Colden, who, like Reggie, is black, said Saturday. There is no fence there to mark where the property begins and ends. I mean, one woman called the police on an eight-year-old girl selling water last week.

Fields was recently mowing the lawn of customer Lucille Holt when officers arrived at her home.

Neighbors in Maple Heights, Ohio, called the police on Mr. Reggie's Lawn Cutting Service because he cut their grass by mistake.

Rather than be delighted with the free lawn trim, which was clearly done in good faith, the furious neighbours called the police. In an interview with Cleveland.com, he said, "I feel that [the national attention] is making my business more exciting".

Holt told the publication that she had seen Fields and his family members in the parking lot of a Dollar Tree with their equipment, including a lawn mower, gas cans, brooms, garbage bags, and rake. They should be glad the kids out here aren't breaking their auto windows ...

She also said she spoke with a city councilwoman, Sharri Thomas, in Maple Heights, OH, where she lives, who contacted her "regarding the senseless act". When he responds that he is 9 and went to school with one of the neighbors, she praises him for being productive. "He's had an outpouring of love", Holt said of Reggie. "I'm trying to make it easy on everybody".

"They call the police for everything, they call the police because my kids were throwing snowballs", she explained. She expressed complete shock over the neighbors, saying that they should be happy the children are cutting the grass.

Someone called the police on a black man who was reading a book about Christianity while watching the ocean. "On time", he tells WEWS. "I didn't know it", Reggie first told WEWS News 5.

Holt posted a live video of what was happening on Facebook, where it got nearly a half a million views. "I didn't know it", Fields said. Where are they at?
