George Clooney reportedly injured in vehicle accident in Sardinia

George Clooney was injured in a road accident in Italy today when his scooter collided with a vehicle.

A photo from the Italian website La Nuova showed the car's windshield cracked.

The accident took place early on Tuesday morning and the "Ocean's 11" actor was transported to hospital from the scene, reports HuffPost Italia.

Local daily La Nuova Sardegna says Clooney's injuries aren't serious, but that he was taken to the John Paul II hospital emergency room.

A fire extinguisher can be seen on the road but no people from the accident were involved.

He was joined by wife Amal Clooney and it has been reported that the pair left the hospital together in a private vehicle.

The American is on location in Sardinia to film a new mini-series "Catch 22".

"Catch 22" is an adaptation of Joseph Heller's classic novel and George is directing and starring in the series. Clooney fell off the scooter and slammed into the windshield of the Mercedes.

Clooney has a home on Lake Como on the Italian mainland.

Despite "really liking him" even before their romantic dinner, the beauty admitted she never held out much hope.
