George Clooney suffers minor injuries in Italy scooter crash

George Clooney has been rushed to hospital after his scooter collided with a vehicle in Sardinia, local media report. Private Mediaset, citing gossip magazine Chi, said the accident occurred near Costa Corallina, in the province of Olbia.

Local daily La Nuova Sardegna said Clooney's injuries weren't serious, but that he was taken to the John Paul II hospital emergency room. "It turns out he had a scooter accident with only minor injuries", while another added: "George Clooney should not be tampered with 2018!"

The 57-year-old has been taken to hospital but is understood not to be seriously injured.

George has been working hard in the region for his new project Catch 22, with the star directing, producing and starring in the six episode miniseries based on Joseph Heller's seminal novel.

A photo published on La Nuova Sardegna website shows a black scooter on one side of the road, with a dark blue estate auto facing the other way, at an angle across the central reserve.

Fans were quick to express their relief that the dad-of-two was doing well after the accident, with one tweeting: "I saw George Clooney trending and nearly had a heart attack".

Clooney, 57, was riding the bike at Costa Corallina on the island of Sardinia when he was involved in a collision with a vehicle, according to Italy's TGR Rai Sardegna. Italian media reports Clooney has already been released from the hospital.
