New Orleans' WDSU-TV identified the man as Renard Matthews, saying he died June 25 after being shot in the head. According to local New Orleans news station, WGNO, "Matthew's mother Temeka says her son was a bit of a homebody, who only recently started to venture out to walk the dog she'd recently gotten him".

Photos of a wake are going viral after a New Orleans family staged their loved one's corpse in an upright position so it looked like he was playing a video game. He also donned socks brandishing the likeness of Kyrie Irving, the Celtics player that wears the number 11 shirt, the same that Matthews wore. He also loved to play video games and the Boston Celtics.

The 18-year-old Matthews will be buried Tuesday. On the television beside him is what appears to be National Basketball Association 2k18, though we can't confirm this.

Family members said they wanted people to remember him the way he always was.
