Several prominent Democrats considering a bid for the White House in 2020 have called for major reforms at ICE, even pressing for getting rid of the agency. Sen.

An undocumented immigrant holds his possessions in a government-issued bag after being released from detention at a bus depot in McAllen, Texas, U.S., July 3, 2018. I don't think that abolishing any one department is going to solve all of these problems.

Fifty percent attributed the administration's policies to "sincere interest", while 44 percent argued that they're based on "racist beliefs".

In May, the agency came under greater fire when U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said his department plans to prosecute "100 percent" of all migrants apprehended at the border, including first-time illegal entrants who arrived with children.

"Among blacks, 42 percent said the government is too aggressive, while 48 percent said "not aggressive enough" or 'the number of deportations is about right". Thirty-six percent said they should be allowed to stay.

A local CBS news station reported on the incident, which took place in West Oakland, California, last year. Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on Twitter or Facebook.

In contrast, the Rasmussen poll of 1,000 likely voters shows that the views of swing voters are a close match to GOP voters. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.

Pressed by activists on the left enraged by the administration's child separation policy, which Trump announced he was stopping after fierce public criticism, some Democrats including presidential contenders have called for abolishing ICE and reconstituting the agency.

Put the numbers together, and a substantial majority said illegal border crossers, and the children they brought, should be returned to their home countries. Ice, which now employs over 20,000 people, is one of three agencies that absorbed and assumed the functions of the now defunct Immigration and Naturalization Service and the United States Customs Service. It's why so many Democratic lawmakers refuse to jump on the "Abolish ICE" bandwagon.

Under the Obama administration, the agency was tasked with mostly focusing on deporting immigrants with a criminal record.

She was referring to a federal law, also enforced by President Obama, in which children are temporarily separated from adults who are jailed while under prosecution for entering the country illegally.

The leftist attacks on ICE demonstrate how radical progressives are willing to toss aside laws that protect Americans and the courageous men and women who enforce those laws to advance an effectively open-borders political agenda.

"In the poll, there was very limited support, less than a third, wanted to abolish ICE, and almost 70 percent said, no, that would be the wrong thing to do", Penn told guest host Raymond Arroyo Monday on "The Laura Ingraham Show".
