Isaiah Thomas Will Hope To Reignite His Career With The Denver Nuggets

Isaiah Thomas thought the Brink's truck would be backing up for him this offseason.

The Denver Nuggets have agreed to a one-year deal with free agent guard Isaiah Thomas, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. He's coming off a season in which he played in 15 games for the Cavaliers and in 17 games with the Lakers. Very few teams had money to spend, and IT never quite looked fully recovered from the injury that he suffered late in 2017 as a Boston Celtic.

For the Nuggets, they needed a backup point guard who could carry the offense when Murray sits.

Instead, he is staying out West after his tumultuous 2017-18 season, which began with a move to Cleveland in the Kyrie Irving trade.

The report states the deal is for the league's veteran minimum. He struggled upon his return after missing the first two-and-a-half months trying to avoid surgery, had some difficulty adjusting once he did return and was eventually dealt to the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline. After impressing with the Boston Celtics during the 2016-17 campaign, which saw Thomas put up a career-best 28.9 points per game, his numbers decreased significantly this past season following an extensive recovery from a hip injury. As a Cavalier, he was barely over 25-percent, and that only got up to 32.7-percent in Los Angeles.

After opening his National Basketball Association career with the Sacramento Kings in 2011-12 and subsequently playing for the Phoenix Suns, Thomas exploded into stardom with the Boston Celtics.
