Wilshere - scorer of 14 goals in his 197 appearances for the Gunners and who won two FA Cup winners medals in 2014 and 2015 - said it was well known the strong emotional ties he had with West Ham.

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has joined West Ham on a three-year deal and says he has moved to the club he supported as a boy.

When Jack Wilshere left Arsenal this summer, nearly in tandem with father-figure Arsene Wenger, speculation about his next destination was rather timid in comparison to the rumours surrounding players of his ilk.

It was confirmed last month that Wilshere would be leaving Arsenal, having spent his entire career there to date, after discussions with new manager Unai Emery.

"People will have seen the picture of me in a West Ham shirt and I've got good memories of my childhood supporting West Ham, watching them at Upton Park".

Wilshere stays in the London area, and will fly out to Switzerland to link up with Manuel Pellegrini's squad at their pre-season training camp.

"I think I must have been about six or seven, my whole family were West Ham fans, I was a West Ham fan, still have a soft spot for them of course".

"I want to be playing here in front of the Hammers, and my bond I've had with the club over my childhood will make it even more special".

In a conversation with the West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini the midfielder now looks set to stay in England by signing a three-year contract worth £100,000 per week.
