Rockets' Paul to stay put with four-year max contract

While he didn't confirm any of the terms, Paul himself seemed to acknowledge the deal, tweeting, "unfinished business... run it back".

Paul averaged 18.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 7.9 assists, and 1.7 steals per game while posting a 60.4% true shooting percentage in 2017-18.

According to reports, the Houston Rockets have agreed to re-sign unrestricted free agent point guard Chris Paul to a contract worth $160 million over four years.

For four years, "Houston" Chris Paul will earn nearly as much as his entire career in the National Basketball Association. Houston will be challenged with max offers for Capela, but his value to the team alongside Paul and Harden cannot be understated, which could be enough for the Rockets to pony up on the big man. Paul helped propel the Rockets to a 3-2 series lead against the mighty Golden State Warriors before injuring his hamstring.

Houston first acquired Paul last offseason when he signed with the Clippers and was traded to the Rockets for several players and draft picks. The Warriors took advantage of his absence and went on to repeat as champions.

Chris Paul is rejoining the leagues's second best lineup. He turned down a 130m+ extension during the season in order to get a maximum contract at the age of 33, which was a bold move as the Rockets could always decline and try to sign LeBron James.
