UK Government preparing for Anti-Trump protests as “if London was burning down

Ahead of Trump's arrival, the United States embassy advised USA citizens in London to "keep a low profile" during Trump's visit.

Donald Trump's son Eric has arrived in Scotland ahead of his father's visit to the UK.

Allan Hogarth, head of policy at Amnesty International U.K., said Trump's visit is a major "opportunity for the U.K.to show that peaceful protest is an essential component of a free and fair society, not something to be shut down as a political embarrassment".

"Donald Trump likes to pose as an global tough guy, but it looks like he's too scared to face protesters in London", the group Stand Up to Trump declared in a statement, alluding to the US president's reported plans to steer clear of the streets of London.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to march through London in protest against Mr Trump's visit and some of his actions during his first 18 months in power.

U.S. ambassador to the UK, Woody Johnson, has said a deal will be "a major priority" for Trump, calling Brexit "a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change direction".

London Mayor Sadiq Khan authorized the flying of the diapered, cellphone-toting Trump balloon, which will fly near the Houses of Parliament between 9:30 and 11:30 am.

Asked about his father's visit and US-UK relations, he said: "He has worked here for so many years, he knows so many people".

"For a U.S. president who retweets far-right Britain First propaganda, insults Londoners at times of tragedy, and refuses to condemn white supremacist marches at home, this insult is well deserved" said Labour MP David Lammy.

One of the demonstrations will begin on the evening of July 12, at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, the birthplace of Winston Churchill.

Speaking about the protests - that includes a giant balloon baby flown over Parliament - Trump told reporters in Brussels that he was well-regarded by Brits.

On the same day, protests against his visit have been planned outside US Ambassador's residence in Regent's Park where President Trump is reported to be staying overnight.

Mr Trump raised eyebrows when he went out of his way to praise Boris Johnson after resigning as foreign secretary, while insisting it was up to the British people whether Mrs May remained in office or not.

At the time, Khan said he has more important things to do than respond to Trump's tweet, which he described as ill-informed and out-of-context.

Later, Trump will take tea with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle, a home to the royals for 1,000 years, part of a tour created to keep him away from protesters.

Conducted this week, the poll said while 74 per cent perceived the man as sexist, 63 per cent found him a racist, the report added.

Trump will be holding talks at that time with May at Chequers, the 16th-century manor house outside London that serves as her official country retreat.

Trump will head to Helsinki from the United Kingdom where he will meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for their first summit on July 16.

These will focus on relations with Russian Federation, trade, Brexit and the Middle East.

The spats continued even after Trump was elected president.
