Rams players react to LeBron James signing with the Lakers

Extremely strong reports indicate that LeBron James has agreed to a mammoth deal to pull on the forum blue and gold and play for the Los Angeles Lakers next season. James spent the first 15 years of his career in the Eastern Conference with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat.

"Thank you Northeast Ohio for an incredible four seasons", James wrote on his Instagram story. "This will always be home". The Lakers remain in the hunt to obtain disgruntled San Antonio all-star Kawhi Leonard in a trade and have the financial wherewithal to make a deal work.

This is the third time in eight years James has changed teams. But having James committed for the foreseeable future gives the Lakers reason to play the long game. That dropped on Sunday night as Klutch Sports offered up a brief release announcing his new 4-year, $154 million with the Lakers.

James joins a Lakers team with some young talent, including Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma.

James led the Cavaliers to the first National Basketball Association title in franchise history in 2016, when the team rallied from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Warriors in seven games.

The wait is finally over and a victor has been declared in the LeBron James free agency sweepstakes.

After finishing 11th in the Western Conference with a 35-47 record during the 2017-18 season, the Lakers pulled off what is possibly the greatest free agency accomplishment in the franchise's history.

LeBron James is headed to the Los Angeles Lakers, and DeMarcus Cousins may soon follow.

That's surely what the organization had to be thinking just hours earlier when it managed to secure the lone publicized free-agent meeting with James' camp, as a contingent went to L.A.to talk to his agent Rich Paul.

A source familiar with the Cavs' thinking said re-signing James is Cleveland's "Plan A, B and C" when it comes to free agency.

By James signing first, it's unclear how the Lakers' pursuit of Leonard may be affected.
