Jim Jordan Denies Reports He Hid Sexual Abuse at Ohio State

Former wrestler Mike DiSabato, who first brought allegations against Strauss, said that he estimates Strauss "sexually assaulted and/or raped a minimum of 1,500/2,000 athletes at OSU from 1978 through 1998". "I don't know how he could have forgotten because this was traumatic for all the athletes". Why he had a spokesman put out misinformation is frankly beyond comprehension, because is he the target of this? No. Jordan denied being aware of the abuse claims several months ago (the university said in April it was investigating) and repeated that denial Tuesday.

Jordan said he hasn't personally spoken with DiSabato since late March or April.

Wrestlers who were on the team at the time, however, are calling Jordan a liar. Jordan has not directly expressed interest in the job, but support from fellow conservatives should he decide to run could frustrate possible bids in the next Congress by Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La.

"Despite claims to the contrary, Congressman Jordan's office has not received a request for interview from the investigative team", Fury said on Tuesday.

"Our office went through everything, and no email, no phone, no record of them", Jordan said. "Never heard of abuse", Jordan said.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) questions FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy U.S. Attorney General Rod Rosenstein during a House Judiciary Committee hearing entitled "Oversight of FBI and DOJ Actions Surrounding the 2016 Election" on Capitol Hill in Washington, U.S., June 28, 2018. "Like we said in the statement, we've not been reached out to for an interview".

High-profile Republican congressman accused of ignoring allegations while coaching wrestling at the university; correspondent Ellison Barber reports on what both sides are saying.

Doug Andres says the university has "rightfully initiated a full investigation into the matter" and the speaker will "await the findings of that inquiry". He stepped down after being elected to the Ohio House in 1994, representing the 85th District.

Mike DiSabato, who says he was one of Strauss's victims, insisted on CNN Wednesday that he told Jordan about the abuse while he was at OSU.

Since then, male Ohio State athletes from 14 sports have alleged sexual misconduct by Strauss, who was on the faculty and medical staff and published a variety of research. Strauss died in 2005, and it was ruled a suicide.

Jordan, R-Ohio, originally said on Wednesday that he received unusual emails and might send them to the Capitol Police. "We all did", Dailey, 43, told NBC News.

Dailey corroborated the account of one of those wrestlers, Dunyasha Yetts, who told NBC News that Yetts had protested to Jordan and head coach Russ Hellickson after Strauss tried to pull down his wrestling shorts when Yetts went to see him for a thumb injury. Yetts says it was far from the only discussion players had with Jordan, and that it was commonly known Strauss showered with players though he didn't work out.
