"This is my son, he loves animals, he loves clean air, he loves clean water", she said.

In the video - which has been viewed more than 100,000 times - she walks up to a seated Pruitt and tells him: "I just wanted to urge you to resign because of what you're doing to the environment and our country".

Pruitt left after the encounter but according to his spokesman, that was not the reason.

The fresh allegation that Pruitt enlisted a subordinate to perform personal duties comes on top of reports that he asked an aide to seek a business opportunity for his wife from the fast-food franchise Chick-fil-A, and that she received $2,000 from Concordia, a New York City-based nonprofit that had asked Pruitt to speak at an event previous year.

While some on the right have said Mink "harassed" Pruitt, the guests on Fox Business News (FBN) Mornings With Maria Bartiromo Tuesday thought otherwise.

"We deserve to have somebody at the EPA who actually does protect our environment, someone who believes in climate change and takes it seriously for the benefit of all us", said Kristin Mink.

As soon as my husband pointed out Pruitt sitting there, I knew instantly that I had to say something to him, it was just a question of what.

"So, I would urge you to resign before your scandals push you out", she added.

Cleta Mitchell, Pruitt's attorney who is managing his legal defence fund, said she was not aware of the administrator asking for Dravis' assistance.

Pruitt has made it his mission to slash environmental regulations since taking over the EPA.

The Trump administration appointees described an administrator who sought a salary that topped $200,000 for his wife and accepted help from a subordinate in the job search, requested aid from senior EPA officials in a dispute with a Washington, D.C., landlord and disregarded concerns about his first-class travel. DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was chased out of a Mexican restaurant and accosted by protesters at her Virginia home.

"His leaving had nothing to do with the confrontation, he had simply finished his meal and needed to get back to the EPA for a briefing".

Some of the hidden meetings reportedly ranged from coal industry CEO Joseph Craft and other industry executives, to Kellyanne Conway, to Cardinal George Pell, a Vatican official and climate change skeptic who weeks later was hit with sex crimes charges. "And as a public servant, he should not be able to go out in public without hearing from the citizens he's hurting".
