Progressive Conservative House Leader Todd Smith says the government will act quickly on all three items because of they are time-sensitive and can not wait until the fall, when the house normally returns.

The money was to be paid out from revenues of the cap-and-trade system, which Ford began dismantling nearly immediately after taking office, as he had promised to do.

The PCs say the project received approval to proceed during the election period. Dropping the emissions pricing was a major campaign issue for premier Doug Ford, who had vowed it would be his first act after taking power as part of an effort to trim 10 cents per litre from gas prices.

A local group, the Alliance to Protect Prince Edward County, opposed the project, saying it believed it would be detrimental to the "unique historical, agricultural, cultural and rural character" of the region. "We are restoring accountability, so you can feel confident your government works for you - not the insiders and elites".

The government has been given "a clear mandate from Ontarians" to carry out its vision at a pivotal time for the province, the speech said.

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says Doug Ford is repealing Ontario's modernized sex-education curriculum to please social conservative supporters, a move that she says will hurt the province's children.

"By going backward, we are doing students a disservice, leaving them without the tools and knowledge to manage their relationships and personal well-being". "We've been checking off all kinds of different priorities that we had promised to do during the election campaign".

"Your new government will respect consumers and trust adults to make the responsible choices that work best for them", Lt. -Gov.

"I had difficulty getting into this media conference in the first place", Tabuns said. "That's consistent with an approach that's closed, that isn't open to the public, isn't open to the people".

The PCs will introduce legislation to bring a halt to the four-month-old York University strike by teaching assistants and graduate assistants.

Interim Liberal leader John Fraser was critical of the Tory's plan to eliminate the cap-and-trade system. "It's a signal that he not only doesn't care about climate change, but he doesn't care about investing in Ontario, dealing our energy needs and dealing with the needs in our schools".
