Bernard reveals why he rejected Blues for Everton

The Everton deals come as a frantic end to what has been a superb transfer window for the Toffees, with the club also bringing in Lucas Digne and Richarlison.

In the immortal words of one Larry David: preeeetty... preeeeetty... pretty good.

Unlike in England, the window for the rest of Europe's leading leagues doesn't close until later in August, meaning Premier League clubs have faced even more inflated prices when buying from the continent. This is a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to competing here.

After penning his deal, Mina revealed a Premier League move was impossible to resist and wants to help Everton progress under new manager Marco Silva.

He has played 14 times for Brazil, scoring once, with his last worldwide appearance coming at the 2014 World Cup.

While Bernard was finalising his transfer at Everton's Finch Farm training ground a club delegation led by the director of football, Marcel Brands, concluded deals for Mina and Gomes in Barcelona.

'I know about Everton's players and I look forward to being able to play with my new team.

"I have spoken a lot to the coach and I know his passion for Everton and determination to be successful".

And Barca were keen to cash in on the 23-year-old, who cost just 11.8 million euros seven months ago.

"I chose Everton because of all the things I had heard about Marco Silva and after speaking to him I was happy with what he said to me", Bernard told Evertontv. Everton agreed a €2.25m (£2.02m) loan fee for the 25-year-old, who now has a minor injury but passed a medical held in Barcelona, and will pay his wages in full for the season.

"Every discussion we've had was very important in making me feel his confidence about my game".
