Reminder: Doom Eternal Gameplay Footage to be Revealed Today at QuakeCon

With the showcase of invasions during the gameplay reveal, director Marty Stratton says in a Q&A roundtable "We wanted people to know that we're making Doom social".

In our reveal gameplay presentation, we show off Hell on Earth and Phobos, two of many vastly diverse worlds that you'll visit in DOOM Eternal.

Doom Eternal doesn't have a release date just yet, but it'll launch on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. New refreshes on existing enemies, along with newly reimagined demons from the original Doom 2, was also shown off, interestingly enough, the demon's in Doom Eternal will feature a complex destruction system, in which they will decay and fall apart as players dish out damage.

The Doom 2016 reboot was a surprisingly great entry and return to the franchise.

Sadly, no release for Doom Eternal was announced during the conference so it'd appear it's likely going to be a late 2019 release but that is, of course, just speculation. Stay tuned next Friday to see what DOOM Eternal's gameplay is all about.

We've put the footage under a microscope, taking note of all the intriguing new mechanics being added to the game, as well as all the awesome new maneuvers you can perform. If ID Software could make that happen again, Doom Eternal might end up the best Doom yet.

To start off with, the Doom Slayer's armor has been drastically changed, losing a number of armor plates and getting an extendable blade, along with a shoulder-mounted cannon that can fire single shots or a concentrated stream of flame.

And, oh, the ways you can slaughter them!

Obliterate more demons than ever before, each with their own attacks and abilities. But there's a twist: You can take control of a demon and invade another person's campaign a la Dark Souls. Invade others either by yourself or with another player, as part of a hunting party, to give the Slayer a true taste of Hell.
