Brooks Koepka wins PGA Championship for third career major

Joining Woods at eight-under were second-ranked defending champion Justin Thomas, fellow American Pat Perez, Ireland's Shane Lowry and British Open champion Francesco Molinari of Italy. Tiger hasn't won a major since 2008, but he's on the right track.

Back in the day, that ball dropped for Tiger Woods.

"Now, that doesn't mean to say that a guy could have had a relatively average summer, and he goes on a tear, plays well here at the PGA, goes to NY, goes to Boston and plays well". "The beginning of the back nine, I could hear all the roars". He tied Gary Player's record for the most birdies in a round in the PGA Championship.

"I've worked my way into a chance to win this tournament just to throw it away on a bad decision", said Spieth. And I made sure on 17 I did.

It looks like we're all going to have a hell of a lot of fun finding out.

Koepka was responsible for that. With birdies on the second and third holes and a par on No. 4, he was at 10-under. He then bogeyed the final hole to slip out of a tie for second. Before the rain hit, incredibly low scores were being put up. It will be held September 28-30 in France. Kopeka birdied the first two holes to take the lead. "You should see the best players in the world come to the top". Brown, who's been to numerous PGA Championships in his life, said he hasn't seen crowds like these before.

Lowry carded six birdies in his six-under round of 64 and is well poised for a crack at his first ever Major win.

Without hitting a fairway on the front nine, Woods cut the four-shot deficit to two. That was as good as it got.

At the par-5 17th, Woods scrambled to make par. He did well to advance it, but had to save par from a bunker.

But Scott rallied at the same time that Koepka's touch with the putter deserted him. (Next year it will move to the second major, after The Masters, and will be played May 16-19 at Bethpage Black).

"I told myself exactly that on 11 tee", Woodland said of his triple in Phoenix. "All in all, we'll play aggressive and just stick to what we've been doing".

He never imagined what it would take for him just to get to the weekend. But he answered with four solid rounds at Bellerive, capped by a 69 Sunday that left him with a top-20 finish, while closest pursuers Bryson DeChambeau and Phil Mickelson missed the cut. "But the nice thing about the delay and going back out tomorrow morning, we'll get fresh greens".

Koepka joked about working out in a public gym this week with Dustin Johnson and not being recognised.

He looks up to the task, based off his last couple of tournaments.

The four-time PGA Championship victor made five birdies and one bogey through eight holes and finished with 10 consecutive pars.

Thomas turned birdie into bogey at the turn with a three-putt from 5 feet, and he missed a short par putt on the 14th to fall back.

Once again, Woods could not maintain the fine form he showed on the front nine.
