Use Spotify Songs as Alarm on Google Clock for Android

Google Clock app can now use Spotify for alarms

Today, Google launched an update to its Clock app that lets you choose any song or playlist from Spotify to use as your alarm tone.

There's no mention of Google Play Music/YouTube Music integration on the blog announcing the new feature - a odd omission given the fanfare with which YouTube Music was announced, however 9to5Google has secured a statement advising that YouTube Music support will be added "soon". Android users particularly asked for the ability to store music on external storage and this feature is now being rolled out.

In order to get this feature, users will have to have the latest versions of Google Clock and Spotify installed on their device.

It's a pretty curious choice considering Google could use YouTube Music or Google Play Music, but went with Spotify instead. And once you turn off the alarm, you'll have the option to continue to listen to Spotify. Now, you can more easily, with Google Clock. Since the feature is not yet live, we can't provide step-by-step instructions, but from what we can tell, you'll open the Clock app and see the option to integrate Spotify from the alarm sounds section. Additionally, Roman told Engadget that, in the next few weeks, YouTube Music will be introducing a way for users to select audio quality for streaming and downloading. The same great experience is also available for our free users in shuffle mode.

The service will be made available for Android users with Lollipop 5.0 and above.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson has also told 9to5Google that YouTube Music will be receiving a similar integration into Google Clock in the near future.
