You must score against United, Leicester boss tells Iheanacho

Manchester United target Harry Maguire will not be moving Old Trafford in the January transfer window, according to the Leicester City defender's teammate Ben Chilwell.

The English worldwide was, in fact, one of several defenders who were thought to be on Jose Mourinho's wishlist for the summer, as the manager looked to bolster his backline.

The 21-year-old is in line to start against United ahead of England's Jamie Vardy who is only just back from a post-World Cup holiday.

The Frenchman added: 'He's a fantastic player and a fantastic man because he listens a lot, he wants to improve, he has a good personality and character but always with good respect for the staff and his team mates.

Maguire earned plenty of new admirers for his strong performances for England at this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation.

He said: "I can confirm he is going to Manchester - but only for a couple of hours!"

"Harry is happy to remain with us".

"We lost Riyad (Mahrez) he was a valuable player for us but was important to keep all our best players and have good additions for the squad". But it is looking good this season.

Press Association Sport understands United were keen to make a big-money move for Maguire but Leicester's steadfast refusal to part with another key asset meant no deal came to fruition.

"It's going to be hard away from home at Manchester United, but it's something that we're going to have to be fearless enough to try".

"It is very good to have Harry back", he said.

When asked whether a world-record bid for a defender, exceeding the £75m Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk, would tempt Leicester, Puel retained his stance.

"I know he will give us some great options and competition in the squad and I'm delighted to have him here". We need to continue and build some good momentum.

"We dominated this game with good play and a lot of chances".
