He then drove it onto a highway, where he saw a police vehicle.

More than 30 people were reportedly interviewed during the initial investigation, and five search warrants were served. The body camera video from the officer who confronted the shooter also needs to be examined.

"This is highly unusual to have six people shot and dead in one incident", Youngblood said.

Police received their first call at 5.19 pm before responding to the first location, a trucking company, where the rampage began.

Sheriff's said the suspect fled that crime scene and carjacked a woman on Filmore Street. He then shot his wife and another man - before he ventured into a nearby neighborhood and shot a married couple.

Sheriff's deputies say a husband and wife went to a business, and the husband shot and killed his wife, as well as a man inside the business.

According to the sheriff, the gunman used at least a single handgun, though he does not know yet if he had other weapons at his disposal.

After killing Garcia and her father, he hijacked a vehicle from a woman who was traveling with her daughter.

"Our entire community, with one heavy heart, is praying for the victims and their families", he wrote. "Obviously there's some type of situation that caused the husband to be completely upset", he said.

Police are still investigating the gunman's alleged motives and his relationship to the victims.

There were firearms recovered. The suspect went with his wife together to the business to confront the man, he added.

Youngblood said detectives believe the gun store is not connected to the spree. The shootings were apparently not random.

"I'm pretty comfortable there will be a connection between all these players", Youngblood said.

The names of the gunman and the victims are not being released Wednesday night.
