But some analysts are not ready to believe that Apple is ready to test customers' price sensitivity and bet on a price tag of $899 and $999, respectively.

So iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR or iPhone XC? 2018 iPhone models are expected to follow in the footsteps of 2017 models. The iPhones for 2018 are going to launch at an event in Steve Jobs Amphitheatre in Apple's new "spaceship" campus on September 12. All of this year's models will feature bigger screens.

Though the iPhone XC/XR will be based off the iPhone X, it will reportedly have some key differences such as an LCD Retina screen instead of OLED, an aluminum frame instead of stainless steel, a single rear camera instead of dual cameras, and possibly no 3D Touch.

The new Apple Watch will sport a larger display and support more widgets on the home screen. Back in 2014, Apple made waves by announcing the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. While actual United States prices might differ, Goldman Sachs has revised its own estimates, saying that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, a.k.a. iPhone XC, will actually sell for $849, instead of the expected $699.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set up a sales record with more than 10 million units sold during their first three days of availability. But then this "confused" a lot of people while Apple called its phone "iPhone ten" people preferred "iPhone ex". Gurman says this iPhone could be called "iPhone Xr", according to one of his sources, though the reason for the name is unclear and it sounds like Apple could still change its mind.

Apple's naming for the iPhone has seen its fair share of contradictory claims.

Rumour mills suggest Apple will be finally launching iPhones with a markedly bigger display. The phone is also expected to be powered by the A12 processor.

Apple's got a busy rest of 2018 to get through what with new iPhones, Macs, Apple Watches, accessories, and more in the pipeline before New Year's Eve. That said, there's also a chance that the support for two SIMs will only come to one of the three devices and that could mean Apple might be limiting such a feature to its standard iPhone XS. It has been using the Plus name ever since the iPhone 6 Plus, so why go with Max now?
