Former Tropical Storm Isaac dissipated overnight Saturday, the National Hurricane Center said.

We started tracking Helene as it pushed off of the coastline of Africa and intensified.

A mother and baby were killed when a tree fell on a house, according to a tweet from Wilmington police.

Florence blew ashore early Friday in North Carolina with 90 miles per hour winds, buckling buildings, deluging entire communities and knocking out power to more than 900,000 homes and businesses as it crawled inland and weakened into a still-lethal tropical storm.

In Jacksonville, North Carolina, next to Camp Lejeune, firefighters and police fought wind and rain as they went door to door to pull more than 60 people out as the Triangle Motor Inn began to crumble. Current estimates have Isaac passing nearly 150 miles south of St. Croix early Friday morning.

Ireland is expected to endure the worst of the storm, while Wales and the Cornish peninsula will bear its brunt in England.

The National Hurricane Center or NHC said "Helene's surface circulation has become fully exposed this morning with the center decoupled about 110 miles south of edge of the remaining deep convection".

For example, one hurricane can be moving slowly westward in the Gulf of Mexico, while at exactly the same time another hurricane can be moving rapidly northward along the Atlantic coast. "It wants to get stronger", he said of the storm.

Joyce moves west-southwest with a travel speed of 13 kilometers per hour and a turn of the system towards the northeast is forecast over the weekend.

A duty forecaster yesterday urged Jamaicans to keep abreast of regular updates on the system and to take seriously the potential threat from Isaac, even as a tropical depression. Hurricane watches were in effect on those islands.

She added: "The feeling is that it's the wind that's going to be the issue rather than rain and we're probably looking at gale-force winds".

Beyond that brief period, the cyclone should weaken a bit as it completes extratropical transition while passing just to the northwest of the Azores Islands and traversing much cooler waters.

"WE ARE COMING TO GET YOU", the city tweeted around 2 a.m.
