"It is unfortunate that the Church has not initiated any measures against Bishop Franco, though the police have registered an FIR [first information report] and interrogated him", said Joseph Varghese, joint secretary of Kerala Catholic Church Reformation Movement. The letter points out that several nuns have left the Church because of the actions of the bishop in the last five years. It seems police are reluctant to take action due to pressure.

Earlier, it was revealed that the accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal committed unnatural offence and committed rape repeatedly on the nun against her will.

"They are arranging people to attack us and Bishop Franco is using his political power and money to get higher authorities of the investigation and the government to bury legal proceedings that I have filed against him", the nun charged.

In a three-page statement issued to media, the congregation also alleged that the protest on the nuns are against faith. "If a nun loses her virginity, she can not be treated as a nun", News18 reported.

"We are not getting justice from the police, church authorities and the government". The statement has also said that the allegations against the Bishop are completely baseless.

Kottayam: "Bishop Franco always had an eagle's eye on the sisters of Missionaries of Jesus congregation and whichever sisters he felt attracted to, he tried to trap them by force or taking advantage of their weakness", according to a letter written by the survivor nun who was allegedly raped by the bishop.

What does the police have to say?

On Monday, the Kerala High Court directed the state government to inform it about the steps taken by the special investigation team of the Kerala Police probing the case. They (police) are studying it as to who is speaking truth.

Meanwhile, the nuns said they have chose to initiate legal action against PC George MLA, who cast aspersions on the character of the nun who had filed the complaint. "We will write to the Kerala Director General of Police for action against George", ANI quoted NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma as saying.

However, Poonjar MLA PC George while speaking at a press conference had stirred up fresh controversy regarding the case where he reportedly questioned the nun's character as well as questioned her allegations. 12 times she enjoyed it and the 13th time it is rape?
