Putin Says Russia Identified Suspects in Novichok Poisoning

Vladimir Putin says Russia finds Skripal Novichok poisoning suspects

But Mr Putin said they were civilians and would tell their story soon.

Mr Skripal and daughter Yulia were poisoned with the nerve agent Novichok in the city of Salisbury on March 4th.

"We know who these people are, we have found them", Mr Putin said. "I hope they will come forward and tell about themselves", Putin said. "There is nothing special and nothing criminal about it, I" m telling you.

They were described as being about 40 years old and believed to be travelling under fake names. The Skripals were hospitalized for months but recovered.

Beyond identifying them as Russian nationals, the prosecutors gave no indication as to who the men are.

"For now we are working on a number of measures to push back Russia's activities and do our best to degrade their intelligence services".

Last week, UK Prime Minister Theresa May, while addressing a Parliament session, held Russian Federation accountable for the Salisbury attack and said that only Russian Federation had the motive to carry out the attack as well as the technical means and operational experience.

Yulia and Sergei were discovered slumped on a bench in a critical condition - with the nerve agent also poisoning courageous policemen Sgt Nick Bailey, and later residents Charlie Rowley and Dawn Sturgess, who died.

Russian Federation retaliated by kicking out a similar number of those countries' envoys.

Moscow has repeatedly denied any involvement in the poisoning, casting it as part of a Western plot to smear Russian Federation to justify more sanctions against it. Although Novichok is said to be extremely lethal, the Skripals survived, and Russian authorities even questioned why British officials put down the Skripals' pets. Two others also fell ill: Sturgess's boyfriend, Charlie Rowley; and police officer Nick Bailey.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has previously rejected May's accusations, noting both the unacceptable tone of her statement and the necessity for a thorough and unbiased investigation which has been so far made impossible by London's unwillingness to cooperate with Moscow.

Rowley in July unwittingly picked up a fake perfume bottle, which the perpetrators filled with nerve agent meant to poison Skripal and made to look like it was from a designer brand.

Russian Federation has said the names of the suspects - as indicated in their passports - given to them by British prosecutors were meaningless.
