Black Ops 4 Has 14 Multiplayer Maps at Launch

A risky move by developers

A risky move by developers

Black Ops 4 might be a particularly extreme example but unfortunately giant installs, and day one patches, have become an everyday part of video game launches. A full download will be required, however, for regular multiplayer modes, Zombies, and Specialist Headquarters. This is just the size needed to complete the installation, though, and once the process is complete it will go back down to the 55 GB requirement.

Most notably, however, is the size of the day one update. Blackout, CoD's take on battle royale, can be played once installation is about 30 percent complete.

In other Black Ops 4 news, yesterday Treyarch released a brand new video for the game which overviews the game's new multiplayer modes.

Though users can opt to buy a physical disc for Black Ops 4, it's probably not the best way to get the game unless it's cheaper and you have uncapped internet.

If you're buying the game digitally, then this news won't matter.

A couple of weeks ago, Treyarch's David Vonderhaar said that the developer and Activision's forthcoming first-person shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, would only contain 11 multiplayer maps in total. To help counter this a little, Activision is allowing select retailers to start selling the physical versions of the game the day before release. BT Games and Game4U stores will have copies available from 6PM on Thursday, with BT Games expected to stay open until at least 8PM on Thursday.

And while Europe gets a 500GB PS4 Slim with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and a 1TB PS4 Pro with the game, India is limited to the aforementioned 1TB PS4 Slim with a Black Ops 4 copy.
