France have come from behind to register a 2-1 victory over Germany in Tuesday's UEFA Nations League fixture in Paris.

The Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid players involved in France and Germany's UEFA Nations League meeting proved decisive, as Toni Kroos opened the scoring from the spot, before Lucas Hernandez set up an Antoine Griezmann equaliser, after which the No.7 scored a penalty of his own to make it 2-1.

Toni Kroos struck a 14th-minute penalty for Germany, but Griezmann engineered a rousing fightback in the first game between the nations at the Stade de France since the November 2015 friendly that was overshadowed by a series of terror attacks on the French capital.

Antoine Griezmann hit a pair of second-half goals, including the victor from the spot, as France recovered from falling behind to a Toni Kroos penalty to inflict a sixth defeat on Germany in their past 10 matches. "We were unable to put the ball in the goal", said Loew.

The result means the Netherlands and France will be left to battle it out for top spot in League A's Group 1 with the loss meaning Germany can not reach the final.

Antoine Griezmann scores their second goal from the penalty spot.

"We had to stay alert at the back. stay calm and composed so as not to concede the second goal".

Germany are bottom on one point after failing to register a win in the competition so far following their draw with France and a humbling 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands at the weekend.

In the first half, we could have been two-nil up, but France have a lot of individual quality. Mats [Hummels] absolutely does not touch [Blaise] Matuidi.

"It's a good thing in terms of our aim of finishing top of the group but we were up against a very good German side today", said Deschamps. "When you are not having a good day, you can change the system and the players, but (the French team) never gives up, and that's how we keep going". It's more than tactical, we weren't making the effort for one another. "We were on the same level with the world champions and we should have scored a second goal in the first half".
