Mara said he never spoke to Beckham following his ESPN interview.

Odell Beckham Jr made headlines for the wrong reasons last week when he passed up an opportunity to endorse Eli Manning, but he may have been speaking for several other New York Giants players when he seemed less than thrilled with the team's quarterback situation.

"I think (Beckham) needs to do a little more playing and a little less talking", Mara said, according to NFL.com's Judy Battista.

NY coach Pat Shurmur brushed aside Beckham's comments a week ago, saying he spoke with the receiver and noted the situation is "finito".

"I was cramping ... so I was trying to go get an IV, " Beckham said after the game.

When asked about Manning's form, Mara meanwhile said the Giants bore a shared responsibility for their dismal start to the season.

Despite a 1-5 start and visibly poor play, the New York Giants will stick with Eli Manning as their starting quarterback. "I can't stand up here and make any excuses about that. I know he's the punching bag right now, but a lot of guys need to play better when you're 1-5".

However, he backed head coach Pat Shurmur and new general manager Dave Gettleman to arrest the slide.

The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver also had another sideline tantrum during Thursday night's blowout loss to the Eagles, marching to the locker room before the end of the first half and slamming his head into a giant cooling fan during a second-half fit.
