Megyn Kelly Blackface Controversy - 'Today' Episodes Pre-Taped

Megyn Kelly Will Not Appear On 'Today&apos For the Rest of the Week Amid NBC Fallout

The Wall Street journal says NBC News is expected to pull the plug on Megyn Kelly's morning show.

"Given the circumstances, "Megyn Kelly Today" will be on tape the rest of the week", the spokesperson told TPM.

During the offending segment on Tuesday, Kelly said it was OK when she was growing up for white people to dress up as black characters.

As The New York Times previously reported, Megyn Kelly Today is likely to end before 2019.

Kelly's show was not the rousing success NBC executives thought it would be when they signed her to a three-year, $69 million contract, but her recent addlepated comments on blackface may just have pushed her over the edge and into the abyss.

NBC News President Andy Lack reportedly condemned Kelly's remarks at a prescheduled NBC staff meeting.

"While she apologized to the staff, she owes a bigger apology to folks of color around the country because this is a history going back to the 1830s".

Kelly would host the third hour of NBC's morning franchise, "Today", and a Sunday night magazine program that would challenge the CBS stalwart "60 Minutes". She wants to look like Diana Ross for one day.

"She said something stupid, she said something indefensible", he said, fuming. Two sources close to the situation confirmed to CNN that "Kelly's show will be ending", and they said that the network is now discussing how to wrap up the show. Sometimes I talk and sometimes I listen, and yesterday I learned.

"It is not okay" for blackface to be part of any costume, regardless of the occasion, she explained, after noting how racists have used it in the past.

Kelly seemed in over her head as soon as she got to NBC.

Having received the memo, Kelly offered a tearful apology a few hours later at the outset of her Wednesday morning broadcast. She faced criticism from the families of Sandy Hook victims for giving Alex Jones, who claimed Sandy Hook had some crisis actors, a platform on her show.

Variety, meanwhile, reports the former Fox News anchor is talking to the network about a new role in the news division-and those conversations started before this latest controversy.

Two people familiar with the matter told CNN Business that Kelly's show will be ending and that negotiations about the end date and other details are still underway.
