Pokemon Go Will Soon Use Google Fit Data to Hatch Eggs

Pokemon GO Adventure Sync

Pokemon GO Adventure Sync

"We're looking forward to finding new and exciting ways to implement it in our other games in the future". Niantic today introduced Adventure Sync, a tool that changes how its games operate.

So, there you go, Pokémon GO is not such a useless game after all.

Developer Niantic has just announced a new update for Pokemon GO, which brings the option to track players' activity without having the app opened. This summary will allow players to see their progress with egg incubators and candy progress (earned when walking with a designated buddy Pokemon). Coming soon, it will sync with the Android Google Fit or iOS HealthKit apps, tracking steps in the background. It's completely opt-in, however, so you can ignore it should you choose.

Adventure Sync will offer players the ability to apply movements from just about everything they do during the day toward in-game rewards like weekly milestones. Adventure Sync will link with Apple Health on Apple devices and Google Fit on Android devices as well, so you don't have two separate trackers to keep up with. "Adventure Sync is our next step in rewarding more players for doing what they already love to do, while providing motivation to get outside and go for a walk-whether they're searching for Pokémon directly, or simply enjoying the sights, sounds, and people around them". And don't worry about keeping up to date - push notifications with let you know when your buddy received a candy or an egg hatched. The update will record step count in the background, even if you're doing something else on your handset or have it safely stowed in your bag or pocket.
