The team is claiming that was not by design, but Schilling clearly does not buy it.

With the Red Sox up 2-0 and three games to play in L.A., the chance to clinch a World Series title at Dodger Stadium looms large which means Sox fans who want to see it in person need to pay up.

The six-time All-Star's response follows a report from an unnamed Red Sox executive who said the team "did not reach out to him, but it is not out of spite", according to Dan Shaughnessy of The Boston Globe.

Schilling, who was sacked from ESPN over a Facebook post, has been politically controversial for years, and with Trump in office that reputation is amplified. Now a commentator for right-wing media company Breitbart News, Schilling has remained subject to several controversies, often relating to the unabashed expression of his political views.

"What they did, or did not do, [Wednesday] was done 100% on objective and completely expected", he wrote in a lengthy statement on Facebook. But ANYONE that knows me knows that whatever you think of my beliefs and integrity and my word, anyone that knows me knows how I feel about them.

Curt Schilling, who still lives locally, and had become a 2004 Boston icon with strong starts and bloody socks, watched from home.

Schilling admitted post-baseball life hasn't been easy. In one sense, yes, not being able to be on the field with the men who I will always share that 2004 bon with and not being able to once again thank the folks who paid for the tickets and whose lives changed with ours sucks.

White privileged rich "men" hate me? "I'm a liberal yeah - I don't line up with ever single view".

This morning, he stated, "One thing I do know for a fact".
