Kamari Guthrie, director of communications for Vote.org told Buzzfeed News that they have experienced an unprecedented flood of new voter registrations across America since Swift's post was posted.

And it appears Swift's appeal worked-vote.org was flooded with new registrations across the country in the 24 hours after the singer uploaded her post.

Swift's enormous reach - she has 112 million Instagram followers and 84 million Twitter followers - underscores the way that celebrities can leverage their online presence by sending messages instantaneously to their millions of fans.

The surge means more voters registered in the day following her post than in the entire month of August.

In the post, Swift expressed support for two Democratic candidates running in her home state of Tennessee, writing, "Running for Senate in the state of Tennessee is a woman named Marsha Blackburn".

In her post, Swift outlined the issues that drew her into the political arena after a lifetime spent determinedly outside it. "Let's say that I like Taylor's music about 25% less now".

"Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values", she said. She also directed her fans to vote.org. She's a tremendous woman.

Blackburn's voting record, Swift wrote, "appalls and terrifies me, " noting Blackburn's votes against equal pay for women and the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act.

Swift, 28, has notably stayed out of the USA political fray in contrast to her more vocal peers, like Democratic supporters Katy Perry and Beyoncé, and Republican backer Kid Rock.

Nadine Hubbs, professor of women's studies and music at the University of MI, and author of "Rednecks, Queers and Country Music, " notes that Swift's statement doesn't ever mention political parties, but instead focuses on issues like human rights, LGBTQ rights, equal pay and racial discrimination. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples.

She also acknowledged her past reluctance to address political issues but said that had changed in the past two years.

"I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country", Swift said.

In a number of states, the deadline to register to vote is today, October 9th. The site's average amount of daily users is 14,078.

Swift's Instagram post was welcomed by Democrats in Tennessee, where polls show Blackburn and Bredesen are in a tight race to replace Republican Sen.

Republicans and President Donald Trump have already rebuked her for the endorsement, but the Swifties closed ranks in support of her and many others have applauded her for speaking out.

The White House this week confirmed President Trump and adviser Jared Kushner would have lunch with West on Thursday.
