Tesla Trademarks 'Teslaquila' For Real This Time

Musk says coming soon tweets label's possible

The suit alleged Musk falsely claimed on Twitter that he had secured funding to take the electric-car maker private.

After electric cars, space rockets, tunnel-boring technology and high-speed transportation systems, Elon Musk appears to be branching into booze. Tesla's CEO and future former board chairman Elon Musk tweeted out a "visual approximation" of the label, which he had earlier posted in April, after fooling people that Tesla went bankrupt.

According to CNBC, the company filed an application to patent the trademark, "Teslaquila' on Monday".

On 24 August after news of the SEC probe had become known, Mr. Musk blogged that his company (he owns about 20%) is staying-public citing investor resistance.

Musk's last tweet for that day truly solidified his love for anime culture when he said it was "time to create a mecha", or a giant fighting anime robot.

He agreed to step down as chairman of the company, and he and Tesla must now pay $20m in fines within 14 days.

While Judge Alison Nathan's approval was largely expected, some weren't so sure as Musk showed little signs of curbing his Twitter behavior - and even took jabs at the SEC after they reached their proposed settlement.

Reps from Tesla declined to comment. However, the fact that Tesla's closing price was still substantially below the $420 mentioned in the tweet suggests that the market was somewhat skeptical of Musk's proposed going private transaction from the beginning. It alleged that Musk made false and "reckless" statements, and sought undetermined civil penalties against Musk, the report said.

As per the settlement announced on Sept.29, Tesla must appoint an independent chairman, two independent directors and a board committee to set controls over Musk's communications.
